Many hazardous industries today are facing increasing mandates for compliance and safety while also being pressed to improve production and increase operational efficiency. However, efforts to reduce risk are often seen as diametrically opposed to efforts to achieve production targets and improve production efficiency. Improving productivity safely means you must be able to balance cost, performance and risk, but many organizations struggle to find that optimum balance.
Recently Check-6 and IQPC teamed up to survey more than 100 operations leaders across hazardous industries to understand how leaders are responding to changing market conditions, increased regulations and pressure to improve efficiency in order to set themselves on a more sustainable path.
Aamir Farid, Former Vice President of Manufacturing at Shell Oil, shares his thoughts on culture, leadership, and strategies for managing the balance between operational efficiency and risk management.
